Role Description: MOOPster
Category: Site Management, Engagement
Team: Site Management
Reports to: MOOPsters lead
Connected roles/teams: Build and Strike
Purpose/Context:
One of the principles we live by, is Leave No Trace. If we are hands on during the whole event, we will minimise the amount of MOOP (matter out of place) there is to clean up during strike. We should also encourage everyone to take responsibility for their own MOOP.
When we all get together, there is a need for both toilets and washing stations, and to make the NNB experience as pleasant as can be, we need these amenities to be checked and tidy.
Since we live in a Covid era, there’s a great need to sanitise common areas regularly. This also becomes part of the MOOPsters tasks.
As MOOPsters we also walk around and engage in casual chats to spread the love for LNT, while spreading a good vibe. There’s always a place for you to improvise and to fulfil your duty in a playful and engaging way!
Your contribution to this is a true gift to the community!
Person Specifications:
There are no required specifications to do this, but we ask you to be reliable and show up to your shift on time!
A good sense of humour can also bring more fun while on shift, especially when discussing all things MOOP and LNT with fellow participant during 😀
Role and Responsibilities:
Pre-event:
– Make sure you join the discussion on Discord by joining the MOOPsters channel.
– Your lead will reach out with information regarding the volunteer role, shift schedule and possible extra tasks that need to be completed beforehand.
During the event:
– Arrive to, and complete your shift(s) on time!
– Every day we will have three shift slots, per instance 11:00, 17:00 and 23:00. You are asked to sign up to at least one.
– When you arrive at your shift, your lead will have a check list and map for you to follow. You are asked to do the whole round as mentioned.
– On your round, you will: pick up MOOP, clean and tidy around washing stations and toilets, sanitise common areas, empty out possible “pant” stations if they are set up, and encourage fellow participants to act in line with the LNT principle.
– As a part of this team, you will also drop things off at the lost and found station.
Post-event:
– if you have signed up for a shift on take-down day (Sunday), your role will also include helping with participants questions regarding LNT, MOOP and MOOP sweeps before they are leaving the site, and general assistance for the Strike and other take-down Leads
– There may be a debrief or questionnaire from the MOOPsters lead for you to give feedback.
– You are encouraged and welcome to give feedback to your lead or the organisation.
Time Commitment:
Pre-event: Some time for emailing and around 30 min to 1 hr to get to know your shifts and what you are doing.
During event: You are asked to take on at least one time slot, and this will take you about one hour to complete. You are very welcome to sign up to more than one shift!
Post-event: Potentially a small amount of time to fill in a questionnaire or have a debrief with the Front Desk & Gate Lead.
