Required:
– As a Front Desk Team member you should enjoy people and take pleasure in welcoming and giving information with great energy while also having an overview of the practical steps.
As a Front Desk Team member you should also be also able to respond in more serious situations (unlikely, but a good skill to have).
Preferred:
– Being both organised and playful is a great bonus
Role and Responsibilities:
Pre-event:
– Make sure you join the discussion and stay informed on Discord by joining the Greeters channel.
– Sign up for a shift and actively figure out what you need to do and when your shift is.
– Communicate with the Front Desk & Gate Lead about shift times, what you need to know and what you can bring (on Discord or when you arrive to the site).
– Prepare for the role and plan fun ways of greeting the newcomers.
During the event:
– Arrive to your shift(s) on time!
– Receive an induction by the Front Desk & Gate Lead or another Front Desk Volunteer.
– Give all arrivals an amazingly warm and COVID-19 friendly welcome!
– Register all guests and give out wristbands.
– Make sure everyone is properly registered according to the membership team’s set-up
– Inform guests about the site and event.
– Inform Theme Camps (leads) and those who are free-camping about Corona “regulations”.
– Follow COVID-19 Protocol if needed
– Have fun and playful interactions with all of the guests, but ask for consent with everything that you do!
– Give out challenges and quests to both newly arrived guests and on site guest, but be aware if they may have issues with what you are suggesting
– For example, spin the ‘wheel of fortune’
– Give out gifts; candy (whatever is provided by the Front Desk Lead),
– Other great games you have up your sleeve 🙂
– Walk around to check to make yourself familiar with the event area if people have questions about drop-of point points etc. Help as much as you can with enquiries or use the radio for help.
– Support Rangers, Site Leads and Parking/Traffic if needed and follow their instructions in case of emergency
PROVIDED: The Front Desk Lead will have organised certain items you can use to make the welcome experience fun, playful and exciting. You can bring your own games, art materials, instruments etc.
GATE STRUCTURE: Depending on how the gate will look like in 2021, your creative input may be needed (Decor etc.)
NOTES: Pen and paper will be provided. You can ask people to write down worries and stresses. These could for example be burned if there is an actual burn.
CHALLENGES/MISSIONS/QUESTIONS:
– Create a mission wall, for example with with NNB practical missions
– Other random fun missions
Post-event: There may be a debrief or questionnaire from the Front Desk & Gate Lead for you to give feedback.
Time Commitment:
Pre-event: Some time for emailing and around 30 min to 1 hr to get to know your shifts and what you are doing.
During event: A Front Desk shift is 4 hours long. You can sign up to more than one shift if this sounds like fun!
Post-event: Potentially a small amount of time to fill in a questionnaire or have a debrief with the Front Desk & Gate Lead.
